So we are officially on our honeymoon! We had a late and rocky start thanks to a certain rental car company and a certain bank, but I digress. We started our trip with a visit to Niagara Falls. I had been before in high school and college but it was Andy’s first time. It is definitely overly commercialized but the views are incredible and so I feel that it’s worth a brief visit.
We ended up on a tour that went to a lot of the attractions: Skylon Tower, the whirlpool, The Butterfly Conservatory, some tourist trap called “Souvenir City”, the Journey Behind the Falls, and of course The Maid of the Mist. I LOVED the Maid if the Mist. There is something about standing on a boat in a thin plastic poncho getting drenched with waterfall mist that just makes me giddy. I wanted to go back and do it again the next day! However, we had to keep on moving. Before we left Niagara we had a lovely dinner overlooking the Falls complete with a “Happy Honeymoon” chocolate cake. Thanks Marriott Fallsview!
So after one last glimpse of the Falls we moved on. We drove through Canada and went through customs in Michigan. We stopped in Chelsea, Michigan to do a tour of the Jiffy Mix factory. Unfortunately, we missed the last tour, but they gave us goodie bags and let us watch a super cheesy informational video featuring a talking box of corn muffin mix, named…Corny, of course. They were very nice there and we got free Jiffy Mix (apple cinnamon if you’re interested). Also, it’s really awesome that the company is still family owned and they make everything on site, even the boxes. Buy Jiffy Mix!
From there we went to Three Floyds, but I’ll leave it to Andy to give you his beer review. I’ll say that I ordered a pale ale (by accident) and I enjoyed it! We spent the night in Peru, Indiana, Illinois, or Iowa I’m not quite sure. On to the Iowa State Fair to eat some butter!
I want you to know AA is impressed, her heart is warmed by your devotion to each other and all things M&A. Maybe one day I will make you little dolls to commemorate your omnipresent wooden dopplegängers who stowed away in your suitcase. All creations would pale in comparison but any version based on the original would be a compliment to your vision. Thanks for the memories and for those yet to come and cross my path. Love, AA
